Every night Reginald Blake dreams of sex with his fantasy woman, a woman that is not his wife. One morning he awakes to find this fantasy come to life and eating breakfast in his kitchen. Porphyria is a black comedy from Nottingham University’s award winning New Theatre, about one man’s search for answers as everything he knows disintegrates. Porphyria will be performed at Zoo Venues Southside at 3.15pm, 6-20th August.

A little something to get you excited…

Press launch

We all had a great afternoon at the Zoo Southside Press Launch where we watched a showcase of the other talent going on at the venue - so much to look forward to and get excited about!

Edinburgh is looking absolutely beautiful and already packed full of Fringe-ers, we’ve seen wild and wacky things and it’s only Day One!!

Rehearsals tonight, only 3 days to go until we open!

And we’re here!

After a long day of travelling, we’re all unpacked and raring to go at Porphyria HQ! (Nick took no time in taking in the scenery)

Tomorrow we have an exciting day with Zoo planned at their programme launch! Looking forward to meeting the media, the lovely Zoo staff, supporters and other performers. 4 days until we open!

Reviews for the Preview

“A darkly comic and surreal tale of infidelity, madness and murder. The play moves deftly from the mundane to poetic.”

Preview Show Success

On the evening of Wednesday 18th July, Porphyria was performed for the very first time. A sold-out Nottingham audience laughed, gasped and applauded at what was an extremely successful show.

Rehearsals will continue and there is still work to be done but, over two weeks from the start of our Edinburgh run, we are in an extremely good position.

Bring on the Fringe!!
